Exhibits in a Church [2016]
August usually has the Rīgas Svētki, a celebration of Riga’s birth. And one of the perks is that the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation opens its doors for free to the people. I went into the courtyard, having only been inside of the actual Doma Cathedral, not the museum part. And there was an art installation that was rather cool!

Gates Into the Church
Original Description: The Doma Church, which's stone was the first stone of what will become Riga.

First Stone Door
Original Description: Rather decorative too.

The Other Stone Door
Original Description: Here's it's sibling.

The Third Stone Door
Original Description: And the third sibling sits on the opposite side.

The Golden Rooster
Original Description: An old one, but here it stays for everyone to see…when the gates are open that is.

Ye Olde Cannon
Original Description: I think…It looked like a cannon.

Ye Olde Clockface
Original Description: Replaced for obvious reasons.

Door, Cannon and Stuff
Original Description: Now I am sure this is a cannon.
Those look like tombstones.
The whole place was like this basically.

Close Up Cannon
Original Description: It looks very pretty even in disuse.

Close Up Cannon 2
Original Description: And here's the front.

The Metal Gate
Original Description: Wanted to get a better shot of it.

By the Windows
Original Description: Sun…you're not even in the shot, HOW ARE YOU STILL GLARING AT ME?!

Another Ye Olde Cannon
Original Description: And this one is not even half as pretty as the one before.

The Square
Original Description: The Center Square of the Doma Church. That thing on the left was why I came to the church at all that day.

A Large Bell
Original Description: I think. Not easy to guess when it's just lying on its side.

The Ceiling
Original Description: Exactly What It Says On The Tin.

Black Stone Slab
Original Description: Okay, not a slab, but it was the only thing I could think up to call it.

Sticks and Stones
Original Description: The floors were littered with old stuff.

Sticks and Stones 2
Original Description: And even more stuff.

Metal Decorations
Original Description: Looking rather nice.

Orderly Bricks
Original Description: Makes me think of a small grave…

More Hallways
Original Description: And more stuff.

Long Hallways
Original Description: And even more stuff by the sides.

The Clock Tower
Original Description: Not as cool as Big Ben, sure, but Riga has its own cool clock.

And Again With the Hallways
Original Description: And with even more cannons!

Hallway Sides
Original Description: …Still not sure WHAT are those supposed to be…

The Way Out
Original Description: And the sun is burning my eyes again.

Donations
Original Description: Or a pseudo-wishing well, whatever works.

Blooming Trees
Original Description: Well, more like ripe with fruit, but Blooming sounded better the Bearing.

From a Distance
Original Description: Exactly What It Says On The Tin II.

The Iceberg
Original Description: A fake one, but…that was the attraction. The constant sound of dripping water/ice echoes around you and when you speak into the microphone, the sound of ice breaking comes out. I only spoke 'Hello' into and had fun doing so. I am easily amused.

Inside the Iceberg
Original Description: That's the set-up.

The 'Icy' Walls
Original Description: Well, it's not like they could get actual ice walls in the summer and NOT have it melt at all.

Closer Inspection
Original Description: Gotta admit on first glance it looks like ice, so whoever made it is a master artist.

The Top
Original Description: Supports and the top. Yeah, it was an open top. The speakers were upwards or inside of it.

Looking Outside
Original Description: That's the way out.

Within the 'Ice'
Original Description: It went on into the night, so it needed light so that people can see something.

More Sides
Original Description: Just walking around and taking pics.

The Building Side
Original Description: Exactly What It Says On The Tin III.

The Corner and the Clock
Original Description: And this time without windows blocking anything!

The Other Corner
Original Description: On the same side as the Clock Tower too.

The Roof and the Side
Original Description: That's where the church itself is.
Added Description: I remember there was a point it had to go through repairs because the roof was 'literally held up by prayer'. It was bad.

The Corner of the Church and the Building
Original Description: With even more old stuff inside of it!

An Old Fountain
Original Description: Or something, I don't know what you call them in English. Some people went to it and I think they drank from it? Can't remember.

The Archbishop
Original Description: I think this was the dude who founded Riga, but I could be wrong.

The Plate
Original Description: Yup, it's the dude. So it says in several languages on this plate.

Into the Hallways Again
Original Description: And we start off with drawings on…metal?

A Door
Original Description: But where does it lead to?

Broken Stone Slab
Original Description: Or is it a stone door?

A Lion Guard
Original Description: A stone lion guard, but a lion guard…a retired stone lion guard that is.

Another Door
Original Description: And probably locked too.

Made in...
Original Description: 1541…Is that an angel or a cherub?

Symbol of Riga
Original Description: No joke, whenever a coat of arms/symbol of Riga needs appearing, a colored flat version of this same castle and keys is used.

More Doors
Original Description: And old ones too.

Stones and Metal
Original Description: What's the point of this thing, if one can literarily get into either side just by going through the yard?

A Stone Slab in One Piece
Original Description: Or should I call that Two Pieces…

Fake Wall
Original Description: Well, old places are bound to have those.

4 More Cannons
Original Description: And all in disuse.

A Statue in the Wall
Original Description: Looks like it could use a paintjob.

A Closer Look
Original Description: At the ceiling…
