Serial Supermarket Shenanigans [Part 15]

Well, clearly some deity was listening in, because the past week has been…interesting. Let’s get into it!

So, things are chill, when I suddenly hear the Security Guard shouting at a guy with a green bag, ripping the green bag from the guys hands and yelling some more. The guy runs for his life when Security Guard starts pummeling him. Turns out, the guy stole over 100 Euros worth of alcohol - placed it all in the green plastic bag and tried to smuggle it out. But he got caught.

He came back to the building the next day, but avoided the store itself like a plague, especially with the same Security Guard glaring at him.

Drunk Man comes in the store and tries to walk out with the bottle. Did not get far, got dragged to the back to await for the cops to collect him.

Another day, a kid tried to run from the store with coffee beans stuffed into his pants. And he was argumentative, trying to say that because he was a guy, he did not need to pay for it. He even tried to run more than once. It took until a male customer walked up to him and gave him a Reason You Such Speech to quiet down, until the burly Mobile Security Guard got to the store and kept the kid in place until the cops got there.

Funny event, when I was leaving the kitchen after my lunch break, I saw a cop dragging the kid to the male locker room and told him he can piss in there. The cop also kept the door open - “Hey, can you close the door?“ “Nope, I gotta have you in my sights at all times.“ “Oh, c’mon!“ “I won’t look at you directly, just have to keep you in the peripherals.“

Can you imagine pissing and a cop is just there, making sure you don’t try to run or cause problems? Now that’s gotta be humiliating!

Actually, so many teens try to rob the store. Like, a whole bunch think that by huddling together, the cameras won’t see them eating the candies from the candy isle. Most when caught just hang their heads in shame and pay up. Some have tried to run, one managed to escape. But since his face was on camera, if he tries it again, his school would be contacted.

A guy was caught trying to get others to pay for his stuff. It was alcohol - of course it was, when is it not? - and decently pricey one at that. Pretty sure he was all but throwing a tantrum when everyone rejected him. He had to be forced out, because of the harassment and from just annoying the customers.

Somebody was stinking up the cafe area of the bakery across from us, like so bad, people were actually leaving. By the time the Security Guard got there, the Stinker was asking the people at the ATM to give them money, which got rejected each time. A screaming match involving threats of unemployment and “I am your boss, you obey me!“ from the Stinker, before ejection.

Why do the drunks think they have any authority over private third party security guards? Like, let’s face it, Stinker doesn’t look like they know what a job is, so not even the Taxes Go To Paying Cops makes sense here.

One guy just HAD to be right, like, nobody but him can be correct. Why is that? Well, he claims the price our screen is showing is wrong and he knows best.

Problem iiiiiis, when looking at the actual signage, it’s for a completely different product. Like, totally not the same brand even. He would not budge and demand we make the price fit. When the Head Cashier didn’t, he stormed away and yelled about never coming back. I wonder how he deals with the weather not following the prognosis set out my meteorologists.

Guy asks for a public transport ticket. I go to fill the one-use ones with the monthly one - i.e., they can be filled up once and used for the intended time period, unlike personalized ones that can be refilled as long as there is space on the card - but then he throws a tantrum how I am stealing his money, because the card is green. The card has been green for months by now, my guy, take it up with the company that prints them. So he left without buying the card. I still don’t get it.

A very weird lady started blathering to me about how “Plastic Cards melt your brain, they are the pinnacle of all evil and she never uses plastic cards“, then she also calls a 10 Euro banknote a Bank Ticket. I was just so close to asking her if she should be in the Asylum on Steam Street, before she finally left.

Turns out, Security Guard recognizes her: she’s a member of the Saeima - the Latvian Parliament and a member of a political party with some unlikable types. And that during voting season, she goes around buying milk for old folks, usually the discounted stuff. Security Guard said they overheard this lady asking a different stores workers if they found they written off milk.

Just in case I translate it wrong, “written off” is not the same as “discount“. The product is written off, because is has gone bad or damaged. This crazy lady wanted to give old people expired milk.

Why does anybody vote for that party? Seriously, they’re all either stupid or corrupt. We need a basic intelligence test to become a member of the government - maybe ask them to colour in the lines or something.

Also, screw every third party delivery company, I will burn all of your hopes and dreams at once should I become a deity!

Sorry about that, but we got a second 3rd Party Delivery added and they clearly have sadists working for them, because there is no sane reason for three phones to all scream in such an obnoxious tone so loud! And we can’t even change it to something less ear grating! Where is the logic!

And two different companies means two different buttons to press when getting the products through the registers to be given to the couriers, so better be careful to not get the wrong button or everything has to be returned and scanned again. What a hassle. We had to get two different tables to put the bags on because somebody could not tell the difference between a basic bag and one with a green tag with the companies name on it.

The director complains about the orders, so I don’t get why she agreed on having two delivery companies sending us orders. It does not make sense.

So, that was something, huh? Like, more or less a week time too?! Let’s see what else life has in store for me…
