Summer Fair - The Garden [2016]
Celebrating the founding of Riga! With a lot of activity, Vermanes Garden was full of excitable youths, enjoying the sights and games set up for them, while Old Riga, the original Riga city that was founded before it expanded in the subsequent centuries, had a more medieval flavour to its attractions.
Separated into two posts, because Vibes - one is more 1920s/retro styled, the other is the proper medieval play, for those who want to see one style.

The Fair: The Bubble Maker
Original Description: In the downtown Riga famous park: Vermanes Park, in the Summer of 2016, there was a fair (well, the fair was all over Riga, but I digress) with a lot of Retro Themed attractions.
Here, kids of all ages could enjoy the bubbles she made the way they were made back in ye olde days.

The Fair: The Bubble Maker 2
Original Description: Like this nifty rope soaked with soap water, it could make BIG bubbles…well, could and did are two different things. The kids always touched and the bubble always popped before it formed. But man, were they HUGE!

The Fair: Bubbly Preparations
Original Description: And this is how she made the bubbles before swinging the thing around to bring them to us.

The Fair: The Bubbles
Original Description: Here you can see the bubbles in action.
I even have a video…except it's over 16 minutes long and I can't upload it to my YouTube account, otherwise all of you could watch it and enjoy the show.

The Fair: The Music Box and Player
Original Description: You've probably seen this kind of musical instrument in old cartoons. It sounded great.
But I kept thinking it needed a monkey to dance to the tune…

The Fair: The Music Box and the Other Player
Original Description: Either the relief musician or between the 10 minutes I spent looking around this guy changed clothes

The Fair: The Movie Projector
Original Description: The sign says 'Movie Camera', technically…and that's what it is: a giant camera you can go inside and look through the front opening. Fun for kids.

The Fair: Inside the Projector
Original Description: That's what it basically was.

The Fair: Aside from the Projector
Original Description: Kids liked it, so I guess the line is worth the wait.

The Fair: Race to the Seance
Original Description: Well, the sign says 'Make it to the seance', basically run through the obstacle course from one end to the other.

The Fair: The Start
Original Description: Where you started to run the course, where you were met with a young gentlemen in a rather dapper suit.

The Fair: The Course
Original Description: Through what the kids needed to run.

The Fair: Zootrops
Original Description: Not sure how to translate this one…it's basically an old animation technique from ye olde days.

The Fair: Closer to the Zootrops
Original Description: This is it…you can't really see it, but there are numerous pictures of a wolf, each in a slightly different pose of it running. Through the slits when it comes you can see an animation happening.
And another gentleman in a dapper suit.

The Fair: Inside the Zootrops
Original Description: …Okay, mistake, it was a dog, not a wolf. But my point still stands on what you saw in real life.

The Fair: The Shadow Theater
Original Description: …Basically what the title says…
Added Description: 'Shadow Play' might've been more accurate as a translation.

The Fair: Stay Within the Frame
Original Description: The guy had to do whatever he had to remain within the shadow frame.

The Fair: The Animation Brigade
Original Description: From Silent Shadow Theatre to colorful animation movies!

The Fair: Within the Tent
Original Description: Little kids and their folks assisting with the job.

The Fair: On the Tables
Original Description: This is all the stuff they used to make characters.

The Fair: On the Walls
Original Description: Posters to many animations of the walls of the tent.

The Fair: Little Ruddy
Original Description: No idea what the posters abouts, but there were several seats for people to watch the animation happen on the screen if they didn't feel like participating.

The Fair: A Show and A Job
Original Description: How it looks on the inside.

The Fair: The Dolls
Original Description: Dolls on a nearby workbench/table.

The Fair: The Directors Megaphone
Original Description: Here they made the Directors Megaphone (You know the thing you talk in and your voice comes out loudly?), but from paper and cardboard.

The Fair: Colorful Megaphones
Original Description: As the title says: kids colored and made decorations on them.

The Fair: A Loud Decoration
Original Description: What? They're used as decorations and can make a voice louder.

The Fair: The Retro Photo Booth
Original Description: Pronounced the same as its English counterpart.
Looked interesting, so I decided to get a picture…I just had to wait an HOUR to get to my turn.
Added Description: Ah, youth, an hour is not nearly as bad for waiting time...then again, it was a hot day...

The Fair: White Fake Roses
Original Description: I touched, so I could feel that they're fake…also I know that there aren't any roses in that spot normally, so it was a dead give away, you know.

The Fair: So Many Dresses
Original Description: A lot of pretty clothes were in the tent. Not just dresses, but it seemed to be the majority of the props there.

The Fair: While Waiting...
Original Description: I was waiting and bored and I didn't want to waste my phones charge by browsing the web, so I took a photo of a family almost ready to go.

The Fair: Retro Photo
Original Description: And here am I, dressed as a late 19th century woman! Gotta say, I looked rather good in that dress. My relatives, when I showed them this picture, said they would have not known it was me (Because this is the first picture evidence of me wearing a dress in almost a decade, is probably one reason).
The hat was cool, but it kept sliding slightly. I could seriously feel it slipping down. Good thing I don't have to stand for hours like in the old days!
(Picture was not taken by me and was made by the RETROFOTO (you can see their website address on the picture))

The Fair: The Fountain
Original Description: The fountain is located in the park. During summer season it does it's job and during winter season it's just a decoration: basically it's job.

The Fair: Walking By the Channel
Original Description: The Riga Channel.
Back in the day, this was the river that separated (Old) Riga from the rest of the country…now it just separates the old town from the rest of the country's capitol.
Added Description: And if going by some historic maps I've seen, it also used to be much bigger.

The Fair: One One of the Many Bridges
Original Description: No seriously, there are at least 5 bridges on this small channel (the one in this picture, in fact, leads to the Statue of Freedom)

The Fair: The Other Side
Original Description: In the right side you can the Latvian National Opera.
Usually, there is a fountain shooting in the middle of the river, but I guess it was off either that day or during that time.
