The kitty was out faculties mascot, who lived and thrived in the building. He had specialized food and favorite people. His name was Rainis, named after a famous Latvian poet, playwright, translator and politician.

Though while Rainis the human was a dignified man, Rainis the Cat cared for none of that and liked getting into places he shouldn’t. Like trying to get into pockets of students coats that were left in the first floor coat room. Or out through the door. In the winter. For living in a university faculty, he sure skipped a lot of lectures.

Though, since this is from 2016, and Rainis was not a young cat then…but he is immortalized in our hearts.
